Azerbaijan`s Ombudsman holds online meeting with representatives of civil society

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has joined online meeting organized by the European Council. The event attended by representatives of the civil society, aimed to discuss strengthening cooperation between the Ombudsman Institution and civil society organizations in the field of fighting against discrimination, e-huquq.az reports.

Sabina Aliyeva stressed the importance of development of civil society institutions, as well as improvement of the role of civil society in efficient implementation of the public control.
On bridge role of Ombudsman Institution between the people and the state bodies, Mrs. Aliyeva stressed the significance of cooperation with the civil society in this regard. She said in the world practice, the civil society institutions are considered as close partner of the National Human Rights` Institutions, adding this partnership is supported by the international and the regional organizations.

The Ombudsman noted equality of rights and freedoms of all are guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She commented Ombudsman acts in the direction of providing the equality and elimination of discrimination.

Following the meeting, the Ombudsman answered questions raised by the civil society representatives.
